Luma Works is a mission-driven consulting practice that helps organizations and public agencies translate community experience into shared understanding and meaningful impact.
The work blends facilitation, mixed-method data collection and synthesis, human-centered design, and visual storytelling to support organizations in documenting their work, navigating complex systems, and engaging stakeholders with clarity and care. We specialize in developing reports, facilitating learning spaces, designing frameworks, and creating community-facing tools.
Luma Works collaborates with local and state agencies, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and philanthropic partners seeking support with stakeholder engagement, implementation planning, knowledge development, and equity-centered evaluation.
Alexander Harris Jr., M.A. (Educational Leadership and Policy), is the founder of Luma Works and works as a strategist, facilitator, and community builder who understands systems and the communities they impact. A science educator turned policy analyst, Alex launched Luma Works after wanting to deepen his commitment to creating meaningful, sustainable impact
His approach is grounded in real life and real people. He's boots on the ground as a change agent, chef, educator, and nonprofit leader in Anne Arundel County, MD. He weaves a background in mixed-methods research, education, and critical policy studies to help organizations see the bigger picture and the blind spots.
With a calm, grounding presence and a reputation for asking the right "how" and "why" questions, Alex leads with his curiosity. His facilitation style draws on human-centered design, adult learning principles, and his experience as a creative and spoken word poet. He prides himself in curating spaces that are reflexive, transparent, and always rooted in love.
At the heart of it all, Alex has the tendency to draw the best out of others, especially on collaborative projects. He is a visionary who understands how to pull the right pieces together to help everyone see the bigger picture.
